Honda Mobilio Description

HCIL has recently introduced its latest multi purpose vehicle Honda Mobilio in petrol and diesel versions. The petrol trims are incorporated with a 1.5-litre, i-VTEC petrol mill that displaces 1497cc. It has 4-cylinders, 16 valves and is based on a single overhead camshaft valve configuration. It produces a maximum power of 118bhp at 6600rpm and generates 145Nm torque at 4600rpm. It is integrated with an electronic fuel injection system that helps in giving 17.3 Kmpl on highways and 13.8 within the city. This MPV crosses the speed barrier of 100 Kmph in 13 to 14 seconds. The diesel version are powered by a 1.5-litre, i-DTEC engine that is integrated with a common rail fuel injection system. This motor is capable of generating a peak power of 98.63bhp at 3600rpm and yields torque output of 200Nm at 1750rpm. This DOHC based mill displaces 1498cc and returns a maximum mileage of 24.2 Kmpl. The car maker has coupled both these engines with a five speed manual transmission gear box that transmits torque output to its front wheels. In terms of suspension, its front axle is affixed with a McPherson strut and a torsion beam is fitted on the rear one. The E and S trims are fitted with a set of 15 inch steel wheels, while the other two variants are equipped with a stylish set of 15 inch alloy wheels. These rims are further covered with tubeless radial tyres of size 185/65 R15 that provide strong  grip on roads. The braking system is quite efficient with disc brakes fitted to its front wheels and drum brakes are used for the rear ones. It is incorporated with a collapsible electric power assisted steering system that has tilt adjustment function. It supports a minimum turning radius of 5.4 meters and results in convenient handling.

The automaker has designed it with an overall length of 4386mm along with a width and height of 1683mm and 1603mm respectively. The wheelbase of 2652mm is quite good and it has a ground clearance of 189mm. The pleasant internal cabin is quite spacious and accommodate at least seven passengers. The rear seat is reclining and has 60:40 split folding function, while the third seat has 50:50 foldable facility. The advanced 2-DIN audio unit is available in all the trims except in base level variant. It features AM/FM radio tuner, MP3 player, Aux-in, USB port and has speakers as well. The interior look is further enhanced by silver finished steering wheel, gear shift knob and door handles. There are a few utility based aspects like accessory socket for charging devices, cup holders and front seat back pocket. In terms of comfort, it is bestowed with an ECO lamp, power windows with driver side auto down function, height adjustable driver's seat, key less entry and an air conditioning unit with heater. The striking exterior aspects in its frontage include headlight cluster with halogen lamps, chrome radiator grille, body colored bumper and a couple of fog lamps. Its side profile looks attractive with outside rear view mirrors, door handles and neatly carved wheel arches. The rear end has a radiant tail light cluster, micro antenna, boot lid and LED high mount stop lamp.

Overall Review

Honda has pulled off the covers over its MPV christened as Honda Mobilio in Indonesia. This new MPV from the Japanese auto giant looks pretty much alike the Honda Brio or Honda Amaze from the front facade but the side and rear profile has been completely redesigned in order to obtain a perfect MPV look. This new vehicle comes with an impressive wheelbase of about 2650mm, which is about 245mm longer than the Honda Amaze. On the other hand, it has an overall length of about 4390mm, which is quite decent. The company has unveiled this four wheeler in Indonesian auto markets and soon, it will be showcased for Indian markets as well. The one that was unveiled at the Indonesian auto markets was fitted with petrol engine, while there are rumors that a diesel engine would also be made available for the various automobile markets. Coming to the engine specifications and technicalities, this yet to be launched Honda Mobilio MPV is expected to get the 1.5-litre i-VTEC 4-cylinder petrol motor that is expected to deliver a commanding power and superior torque. The company has tuned this i-VTEC petrol engine that enables it to deliver a maximum power of about 116bhp of peak power at 6600rpm and at the same time it yields a maximum torque of about 146Nm of torque at 4800rpm. This MPV is expected to go on sale in the financial year 2014, which is just about few more months away.

Mileage and Fuel Economy

Coming to the fuel economy, the company hasn't revealed anything regarding the mileage figures of Honda Mobilio, but we can expect it to be in an economical range. According to the experts, the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol mill is expected to offer a mileage in a range of 14 Kmpl in the city traffic to 16 Kmpl, when driven on the highways. While the diesel trim could give away a maximum of 20 Kmpl, which is also a speculative figure.

Colors

The upcoming Honda Mobilio that was unveiled at the Indonesian car market was painted in light chocolate brown color shade, which is quite fascinating. We can also expect that the company will roll out this new model along with a few more color shades that allows the individuals to choose according to their personality and lifestyle.

Acceleration and Pick up

The petrol engine powered Honda Mobilio is blessed with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC motor that is most powerful in its class. It is expected to come with an ability to reach a top speed in the range of about 160 to 170 Kmph, while breaking the 100 Kmph speed barrier in around 15 seconds. On the other hand, its i-DTEC diesel engine could achieve a top speed of about 175 Kmph, while reaching 100 Kmph mark in just about 16 to 17 seconds, which is quite impressive.

Appearance

In terms of appearance, this upcoming Honda Mobilio MPV has got a very sophisticated side and rear profile, while its front facade has got the design elements of Honda Brio and Honda Amaze. To start with the frontage, this yet to be launched Honda Mobilio gets the large headlight cluster merging with character line, while the radiator grille is very stylish and quite different from what we have seen on the existing Honda Brio and Amaze models. There is a lot of chrome has been used on the front radiator grille to obtain premium and rich looks. The front bumper gets a bit of sportier elements, while being painted in body color. There is a protective cladding under the front bumper enhancing its style from the front. The side profile of this MPV is very sleek and expressive with next generation design elements. The design of the classy alloy wheels is catchy and it dominates the side profile. The door handles and the external rear view mirrors have been painted in body color, while the window sills gets black color garnish. The rear profile of this MPV is very aggressive and completely different from conventional MPV models. It gets a large boot lid along with a sleek bumper with some sort of design incorporated with reflectors on it. This makes it bolder and aggressive in comparison with other MPVs in the segment.

Comfort Feature

As far as comfort features are concerned, this recently unveiled Honda Mobilio MPV is expected to get all the features that were offered with Honda Amaze sedan or the Brio hatchback model series. We can expect a lot of impressive features which might include an efficient air conditioning system with heater, a responsive power steering, front and rear power windows, a central locking, a key less entry, driver seat height adjustment, cup holders, vanity mirror and various other important features. This upcoming Honda Mobilio MPV is also expected to get an advanced 2-DIN music system with USB and AUX-in input functions along with Bluetooth connectivity for rich quality entertainment inside the cabin.

Dimensions

It is disclosed that the yet to be launched Honda Mobilio MPV has the overall length of about 4390mm. On the other hand, it has a large wheelbase of about 2650mm, which is about 245mm longer than Honda Amaze. It also get a decent height, which is about 105mm greater than Honda Amaze with a solid ground clearance of 185mm. This makes it much bigger and more spacious than other MPVs of its class.

Engine

Coming the engine technicalities, this yet to be launched Honda Mobilio MPV that was unveiled in Indonesia was fitted with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol motor. This engine is equipped with four cylinders and 16 valves that releases a commanding 116bhp of maximum power at 6600rpm and generates a superior torque of about 146Nm at 4800rpm, which is rather good. On the other hand, its diesel variant is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre, i-DTEC, 4-cylinder diesel engine having a displacement capacity of about 1498cc. This engine can churn out 98.6bhp of power at 3600rpm and generates 200Nm of peak torque at 1750rpm that is impressive. Both these engines are expected to be mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box.

Wheels

This yet to be launched Honda Mobilio MPV is expected to be equipped with a robust set of stylish 15 inch alloy wheels for its top end variants, while its base and mid range variants are expected to get 15 inch steel wheels. These wheels will be covered with high performance, low maintenance tubeless radial tyres.

Suspension

As far as suspension system is concerned, this upcoming Honda Mobilio MPV will be bestowed with high quality, robust suspension system that takes the driving comforts to a new level. We can expect its front axle will be fitted with McPherson Strut type of suspension, while its rear axle is expected to be assembled with Torsion Beam type of suspension system.

Handling and Control

The upcoming Honda Mobilio MPV will be offered with conventional disc and drum braking mechanism, which is standard in most of the four wheelers in automobile market. The front wheels are expected to be assembled with disc brakes, while the rear wheels will be getting the efficient drum brakes. On the other hand, the top end variant of Honda Mobilio will be offered with an advanced anti lock braking system, which will enhance the braking mechanism of this upcoming MPV.

Pros

Comfort features are quite decent, cabin space is good, engine performance is rather good.
